Newbie Question

I have just recently purchased a 2004 (early build) F250. It has 87,000 miles on it. The truck was clean and the owner had a mech. check it out. All miles were freeway btw. Since I've owned it (3 weeks) its been in the shop 3 times. 2 EGR's and an EVP?. I have also learned that it has had two sets of head gaskets installed, EGR cooler redone and quite a few other things. These were all from the OASIS report. (I did not know about an OASIS report untill after the purchase. Anyways, should I get out now and look for an older 7.3. I will not loose money on the deal, might actually make some. Do I have a problem child, or is the worst over?

hard to say, the egrs are normal and the ebp is also but the head gaskets usally indictate a tunner.my opinion is it will never be over with a 6.0 that has problems it seems that if you get one that is problem free you are ok but if you get one with problems it never ends atleast that has been my experience with my all stock 04. good luck with your truck.

two sets of head gaskets? Sounds like it was overpowered by a tuner and created problems. This was a very high mileage truck about 3.4K per month or 110 miles per day. In retrospect did you have a mechanic look at it?

The guy I bought it from had his tech look it over and do a checklist of items. From what I saw all was good. The owner drove up and down CA for his job. I could not find evidence of a chip. And all the work has been happening as of late, starting around 70k
