I have a 2000 Crew Cab Dually with a PSD. When its cold, it runs fine, but after it warms up it really stumbles when its idling? Its not a consistant miss like a lope, and it never stalls. If i let it idle for about half an hour it will settle down to an occasional missfire. Has anyone had this happen before or have any ideas??
I just changed it about 400 miles ago with shell Rotella T. I had forgot to mention that the time before I used Mobil oil and the problem was TERRIBLE!! Since i changed it its not as bad but it didn't go away so I'm not sure what that means? I noticed it when I bought the truck at 114??? miles. It has 135,000 now and hasn't gotten better or worse other than the time i put Mobil in it. A computer showed that the High Pressure oil was 400 psi at idle up to 1400 at full rpm?? The tech manual says 600 to 2,??? psi. I thought maybe it was a pressure problem so i put a 10k mod on it. That made it lope a bit at idle but the stumbling still exists. Even with a 4.7k mod I gain good power clear up to top RPM so I don't think my HPOP is weak??? I recently put a small shim in the FPR, Couldn't tell that it made any difference. Would like find out where to hook a guage to check the fuel pressure?
Hmmm, I recommend getting it scanned with a good code reader, one that will read the enhanced codes. Not just the P-codes. Also your HPOP pressure seems very low. Bad IPR? I'm not very experienced at fixing these rigs, just read a lot. Try checking the electrical connection at the rear base of the HPOP. Several people have posted that the connection for the IPR gets loose and then it runs bad.
