Tranny pump???

Tranny pump???
So my truck is making a sqelling noise from the tranny, I was told its probally the tranny pump but i've never even heard of a tranny pump, is it like an oil pump? If this is the problen anyone got any idea on the cost to fix it? Its an 01 f250 with the V10

Automatic transmissions in general are one big hydraulic pump. To get to the pump, the tranny has to be dropped. It sits right behind the torque convertor in the transmission. The pump is a big part of the tranny. Sorry, I don't have any information on what it would cost, or even if that is your problem. It could be something else making the noise.

thanks for the reply. I just bought the truck a month ago but i didn't get an extended warranty, the place i got it from is gonna have a tranny shop look at it I dont think that they should expect me to pay for it at least not all of it ,what do you guys think?
