CA smog on 75 f150-I have questions
Just in case anyone else goes through this, I will update you on what I have found out so far.
First I checked my VIN and found out despite the fact that the title says f150, it is actually an f100 360 5.9. All this time I thought it was an f150 390 6.4. Funny thing is that I have a 4 bbl edelbrock on it. The 360 came with a 2bbl. How can I tell what type of engine is in it right now?
I found out I don't need a cat or an unleaded fuel tube but I do need a smog pump and pcv system.
Another weird thing is that I can't find any original data plates on it. Not even the one on the frame rail. Could I have a gotten a screwy deal? There is a Vin on the door frame but it isn't the one that is normally on these trucks. it just has a vin, a control number and says State of Washington. What is that all about? As far as I know this truck was manufactured in San Jose and is currently registered in Texas.

CA smog on 75 f150-I have questions
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Jan-02 AT 09:39 PM (EST)]We have talked before on this board about how these trucks go through so many owners and everybody makes different modifications down through the years to their trucks. Even changing frames/cabs and engines. Also changing from 2x4 to 4x4. People do it all the time. Don't worry about it, enjoy your truck. As far as your engine goes, you probably need to figure out if you have a 390 or a 360. I have been reading on here where the only way to do this is to take a sparkplug out and measure the stroke of the piston. Do a search on here or maybe somebody will know what the difference is.
