I agree, don't leave home without it. Try backing out of a parking spot where the distance between the 2 rows of cars is about 3' longer than the length of the truck. It's a godsend to be able to backup very close to the cars behind and get that few extra inches to make the turn.
Rostra makes a excellent back up system, 10-12 ft range , 2 sensors that are the size of cig. packs that mount long ways/ front to back with the vehicle, mount under bumper ,since they recommend mounting them recessed 1"/2 " they dont seem to have as many falsing problems as some other brands Ive installed , Craig.
They were not on my list of options when I was searching for my truck, but those and adjustable pedals were on the one I found. Now that I have them I than they are great. like bgrover said makes it allot easier getting in and out of tight spaces which I absolutely hate to do (my PSD is the one way out in the parking lot away from all the other cars/idiots-lol) also one day hopped in the truck put it in reverse and BBEEEEEEEEPPP DAMN hopped out went to the back of the truck and my daughters bike was laying on the ground behind the truck I almost ran over her bike - dont worry guys she was not on it-they payed for themself!! Oh and the adjustable pedals when my wife gets to drive the truck mo more readjusting the seat just push a button.
Red Boat- funny you mention that. the first time mine went off on the truck, the neighbor kid had left her bike behind the truck- never saw it. The second time it was my Black lab doing her impression of world's dumbest dog (actually I think she was trying to come along).
