Dave, A NCFTO member has one that he is selling for a friend, 650 d. pumper for $225.00. They are supposed to be good carbs, if you are looking for a big carb.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Jan-02 AT 01:17 AM (EST)]Demon carbs are THE best carb out there...its just a Holley that Barry Grant made better. If fact, your tune up parts will inter-swap. If you take your truck off-road allot I would get the new Holley truck avenger because it can handle angels and banging around, but otherwise a Demon is the way to go. Just make sure you get one made for the street, this would be either the road demon or speed demon. And John, the road demon is rated at only 625cfm

Oh, almost forgot...if this is for a truck I would steer away from double pumpers...

Demon carbs are great, if your building an engine for all out horsepower. Otherwise its just a little overkill. Great carb sure but for less money could get a carb that will work just as well. Going offroad? Not trying to start an argument, but the carter/edelbrock designs work gteat when off level surfaces, no gaskets below the fuel line

I'm no carb expert but i just finished reading the copy for the holley "Avenger" carb in the latest Summit catalogue and they don't say anything about "offroading" characteristics AT all---in fact the ad says "designed just for the street" nothing about Dirt, hills, mud, mountains, etc, etc.---I was under the impression that holley was coming out with a carb for off-roading and the like-----go figure---It looks like a double pumper at first glance but its hard to tell----I'm wondering what the difference is between the Avenger and say the Speed Demon--if they were both 650 cfm or so--the demon is alittle higher in price by about 70 bucks ---Maybe some of the more knowledgeable Ford folks would like to "compare and contrast" the two carbs and delinate the differences between the two--It would sure help me make up my mind which i will end up ordering!!!!!!!fd

Seth, I don't know which model it is, just saw the guy with a huge carb in his hand with two fuel lines, it was a long bed super cab for sure. I knew it was too big for my taste so I didn't pay a lot of attention. My trucks don't need a bigger carb, they burn enough gas as it is, thank you very much.

John, the carb you were looking at sounds like a Race Demon 650 double pumper. That particular carb is why too much for a truck, you are right. Gentlemen, you notice I said TRUCK avenger. This is a new carburetor developed by Holley specifically for off-road use. It is not a normal Avenger. It was just released in the last month. It uses annular boosters, special metering blocks, floats, etc and handles angles up to 40 degrees without stuttering...something that would stall out either a normal Holley or Edelbrock, with or without either companies "off-road needles and seats". For more info and the link look in the off-road forum...I'd include but don't have it handy.

Nevertheless any decent Holley is gonna cost an arm and a leg, demons are cheaper and sound just as good to me, that is unless anyone had had any trouble with them holding up

Friend, don't know what your smoking but you've got it backward. Holleys are half the price of Demons, and Demons are built much better. They use better grade boosters, better castings, etc. Otherwise they are the same as a Holley. Look in summit racing....the standard issue Holley runs @$200 and the standard issue speed demon runs @400. Just an fyi.

O>K> Boys, remember ,we're a family albeit an argumentative one at times it seems but we have Two Common bonds , i.e. ,We all own fords that are for the most part are at least 20 odd years old and two ,by virtue of their age they require working on quite abit. I just finished reading the ad copy about the "Avenger" on the holley website and it didn't mention the cfm nor did it give the range of sizes that it would be available in.....I'm wondering here if the special performance capabilities that have been included into this carb will somehow require a tradeoff between all-out performance on the street and the abilities required for very slow vehicular angular movement both up and down???I have come to the conclusion that for my own particular needs that the "street" version of the avenger will be the proper choice for me....I won't be driving my f250 in manmade mud holes--and I won't be pulling sleds , and I won't be trying to climb Mt. Everest---------Sooooooooo , I'll just be pulling trailers and trying to make a living like everybody else-----fd
