Hi, I have a 1979 supercab and have a question about replacing the hood hinge. Are the nuts that attach the hinge to the frame and hood attached. I want to know if I remove the bolts to the hood hinge, are nuts and parts going to drop to the ground (or in the inner wheel splash guard). I don't want to remove the splash guard without reason or accidentally lose parts.
Jeff, grab a bud and remove the four bolts on the hood and remove it. Then remove the bolts on the firewall and you can have a pair of hinges in hand.

Thanks John. You see I have a gravel driveway and it is now full of snow an mud. Kind of rare for North Carolina. Last week I dropped a little pin for my vacuum booster and spent more time looking for it than replacing the part.
Sorry, I did not see your other post. I live in Cary, just down the road. I actually used to work in Durham but hated the I40 drive. By the way, I found a hinge at Youngs in benson on the internet and they shipped it to me for only $5. Do you have any luck finding salvage yard parts around here. All of the phone book listings for the immediate area only have vehicles 10 yrs or newer.
If you see a metalic blue and primer gray supercab driving around it's me. I have only seen four of the 79 or older supercabs in the area mine is the only blue one.
Jeff, I'd like to meet you soon. We will be pulling I-beams and other parts beside I-85 and Guess Rd tomorrow, and workng on a slave cylinder replacement there sat morn. Some of the guys will be tearing down a 390 near Holley Springs sat.
