Road noise????
Well, this weekend, we broke down and bought her some new tires, because she had to make a 300 mile trek, and I didn't trust the old one's farther than I could throw them.
The new tires are quieter, and smoother than the old ones. HOWEVER - we still get the scrubbing/thumping sound from the rear - sounds like the right rear. The wheels are not bent, as the tire place would have told us about it.
What else could cause this?
Also, at idle, the engine sounds normal, but when driving, that's a very slight, but noticable, tapping sound. I was thinking possibly a loose wire or hose vibrating against something, but cannot find it. It doesnt really sound like the enigne is pinging, but I guess it could be possible. I've been wanting to seafoam the beats for a while now, but I've also seen mention using water along the same lines. How would this work? The last thing I need to do is hyrolock her engine - she'd kill me!
One way I found to isolate a rear brake problem if it occurs at low speed is to just apply the e-brake and not the brake pedal. It should make the symptoms change or go away meaning the brakes most likely are the culprit. A bearing sound should remain onchanged. try it, you'll get the hang of it.
