8 Plants Closing

Ford will CLOSE 8 production and 3 supplier plants? All the while, sales are anything but good. People are all ridiculing F and GM because they aren't competitive with the "other" foreign manufactures. And then they all add in this globalization stuff. Maybe they're correct but I salute the "big 3" for being so GENEROUS to their workers, as well as their respective communities. And maybe it wasn't appreciated as much as it should have been but the "New America" is going to be anything but generous. Working longer hours for LESS pay. Don't know how good you had it until it's gone, will become most apparent from here on out.

So very true! Especially now that it's down to the "big two" (since Chrysler is now owned by Daimler [Mercedes]).

I really don't think Mother Ford was being generous and showing love for the workers, I think UAW negotiated and forced the auto companies to give the benefits to the workers.

Uaw

I agree Wheel... But you have to admit many a family reaped the benefits bestowed upon them by these UAW negotiations. And YES, there were abuses but all in all, everyone lived pretty well for many years. NOT ANYMORE, all good things come to and end and the future will look very different vs the past.

You're so very correct. Sad but true. I keep reading about this Chery (I believe that's the correct spelling) auto Mfg. from China that's about to market the U.S.. Wonder what their wages are?

Next time you buy a new car/truck, why don't you help out by refusing the rebate?
