I picked up a Combo Upgrade Kit for my miniMag flash light at Lowes. Installed and made the mistake of looking in it when I turned it on, man is it ever bright, with three L.E.D.s. I left the push button switch, included in the kit, off of the flashlight. I use my light a lot at work, hope to save on batteries and bulbs.
How much did it cost? I may have to take a quick trip to Lowes tomorrow. I have two mini mags... would be worthwhile to see if they have them here too. The single bulb mini mag is a pain when the bulb goes..which is too often.
I bought just the lamp conversion at Walmart. It replaces the OEM reflector assembly with the 3 LED unit. I think it was between $3 and $4.
I love it. Bright and easy on batteries.
It was around $8.00, so the one at Wally's would be cheaper. Super, super bright. seems brighter up to six feet than the three cell mag light, where the focused beam takes over. Been playing with it, and took it back apart a lubed where it twists and slides with spark plug boot dielectric grease. It may have been slightly twisting the reflector bulb assembly.
After years of dealing with the double "AA " minimag micromini lamps failing and that hideous twisting "on/off " action of the lampshell, I tossed the minimags forever. I bought the three L.E.D. minimag flaslight that has the silver body and the PUSHBUTTON on/switch for $ 19.95 at Lowes. It hangs right beside the aa minimags on the display case. I love the new L.E.D one I have now , with the bright blueish light beam that has a pushbutton on/off switch.
Pay attention minimag/maglite manufacturers out here, you are slowly being ousted for a better designed flashlight, by me at least .
I had one fail out in the middle of nowhere on a dark overcast night. Try changing a bulb when you can't see your hand in front of your face. Normally I carry a spare source of light but not that time.
I will have to check out wally world for the conversion unit. I have been looking for one for years. I have seen home made conversions, some with expensive batteries required. Will this conversion work with two AA batteries or does it require special batteries?
