Would I be better off hooking some of my vacumn back up to carb.Would this give me better gas mileage.I know i'm not going to get that great mileage.I ought to get better than 11 miles a gallon.I have a 400 with 2150 motorcraft carb.If so does anyone have a good diagramn of hooking everything back up.Most all vacumn was unhooked on old engine. When I put new engine in I had no idea how to hook anythingup./I've just got the basics hooked up.Would like any help I can get.
vaccum in these trucks is your best friend, for God sakes make sure your vaccum advance is hooked up to your carb and be sure you have no vaccum leaks as it can lead to very poor performance.
I have vacumn to dist.,brakes, heaterand cruise controll.Everthing else was ripped off of old engine. So I have no idea how to hook anything else up.Would I get any better gas mileage if it was hooked up?
Bob
Gas mileage wise you only need vacuum to the distributor. I highly reccommend vacuum to the heater and brakes also, for the obvious reasons.
If you want to look into any other vacuum stuff check out mil1ion's gallery. He's a posting legend, collector of Ford vehicles, all 'round nice guy, and lover of small furry animals... wait, that last part didn't sound right.
I'm wondering if i might get a little better milelage with a different carb?I'm still trying to get this thing completely right.I put this new crate engine from jasper in it this summer.Only got about a Thousand miles on it.It' really stated sucking the gas since it got into the single didgets. It's really got cold here in OH.I'm thinking maybe choke problems. You think it might be better to go to a manuel choke?
You can control a manual more closely, but a properly adjusted electric should work almost as well. If you are making a lot of short trips or do a lot of stop and go(like running errands, not traffic) your mileage will get markedly worse in the cold.
