cheaper supercharger solution

I've got a 77 F150 400. I'm looking for a cheaper supercharger solution. I'm willing to fabricate a sheetmetal intake. But where can I get a supercharger big enough for a 400 cheaply? The best I've seen so far is a Eaton m112 at 700cfm for $400. This is not an ideal setup. The ports are poorly located for a carburetor and the snout would interfer with the distributor.

So what are the options in the 5-6psi +700cfm range and under $500?

The M112 is grossly undersized. A pair of them will do nicely, however. Not sure if you want to take that on. There's a guy out in Ohio that installed twin M90's (I think) on a 305 cid Malibu, a four year project at a slow pace.

Here's another thread relating to his project, with some better pictures:

having had the pleasure of being a passenger, I have to say while it's a loud car, it's a TON of fun and very well done.

However the M90/M112 blowers are not your only choice. The roots-style blowers occasionally sell on ebay (6-71, 8-71) and generally they sell in the thousands, but I've seen a few over the years sneak away without a reserve price for about $500-600 with an intake. If the bearings and rotor blades are shot, a rebuild kit is about $225-$250 or so.

Also, you might be able to find a pair of centrifugal blowers inexpensively (i.e. used). Sometimes you see those on ebay as well.... kids buy them and get way over their head as far as installation, then sell them in frustration.

I would also say to look for a used blower.

One other thing you could consider is going with a turbo. You can usually fab up a turbo setup if you are good with a welder.
