Does anyone have a 77 F-250 4x4?? Can you tell me how you steering box is mounted to your fame??? On the inside or the outside ?? Mine is mounted on the inside of frame with a spacer mounted between the box and the frame. Why I don't know. Previous owner did some modifiing and some prefabing.

 

I have a 1977 Ford F-250, and my steering box is on the outside of my frame. Has been ever since my dad bought off of the dealers lot in '77. Because I didn't know if it would be in my way, when I was ready to put my lift on it. It hasn't been a problem, but yeah, my is mounted on the outside of my frame.

is this a pre 77.5 f-250 with the divorced tranny case, or a 77.5-79 stlye, 77.5-79 f-250s have the steering box on the inside of the frame

 

 

My truck has the divorced tranny case, 3 drive shafts, 351 400m.
The previous owners put a spacer block between the frame and steering box which is mounted on the inside of frame. The truck once had cross over steering and now I'm in the process of putting 78-79 f-150 4x4 steering linkage on the truck. Tierod from knuckle to knuckle with an adjustable draglink that connects to the tierod and then goes to the pitman arm. It turns pretty tight to the right but to the left the turning radius stinks. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks David
