I hope someone can give me a few ideas on what to do next. I have a 93 F150 Flare Side regular cab 2WD 351w. One day last week when I first started the truck I noticed the speedometer and odometer were not working along with that the 04RD shift, cruse control and toqure converter lock up did not work. After driving a few miles everything came back on line. A few days ago the same thing hapened again at start up and this time nothing come back on
line.
I've replaced the speed sensor and ran a RABS code scan. I get the #16 which means the system is operating correctly. I've checked all the connectors involved with this system and all seem to check out good. Any ideas on what to check next?
As I mentioned in my first message this happened at start up. When the speedometer was working it was steady as a rock. I've been driving the past few days with no speedometer/odometer and the transmission has been shifting like a sledge hammer. Today while driving home from work all of a sudden everything came back on line and working normal again. This makes the second time it has happened which means it will probably happen again. I can rule out the tone ring as being bad but the PSOM has me interested. It that part of the instrument cluster or is it a separate unit in itself?

Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module (PSOM).
The PSOM is one of five computers you have on board.
The information from the VSS is split and goes to the PSOM and the Anti-Lock Brake Computer.
The PSOM relays the VSS information on to the PCM and Cruse Control Computers.
The liquid crystal display (LCD) odometer is a combination trip odometer and total odometer. The speedometer, containing the trip odometer and total mileage odometer, is serviceable only as an instrument cluster assembly.
