Ah yes, the 460. I think the sales pitch line for this power plant was, "Pass everything on the freeway EXCEPT the filling station"!
I would have to call that statement......accurate. But if you've ever driven a 460 powered Bronco you know that just doesn't matter. 400 horse and a 105" wheelbase.......
i like my little 302 just fine, the 351 is a gas hog with very little horsepower over a 302, and the 300 is torque-y but slow....very slow. the 302 has more pep, and the after market is HUGE!!!!!
imho....the 460 is overkill unless you are towing or hauling and 8 mpg is not exactly affordable these days
I had a 302 in my bronco i got 12/14 city/hwy with 31's and AOD tranny. I swapped in a 5.8 and now get 13/16 city/hwy with 31's and AOD. sounds like an improvment to me. and i gained 40lbs ft of torque with the swap. I am now running 35's on the stock gears and it still feels peppier then my 302 felt on 31's.
I like the 302 motors they are a good motor and have lots of potential an sure there is alot of aftermarket as well but that aftermarket is tailored to the mustang not a heavy 4x4 which is a totaly different beast.
I am glad you like yours though.
