trailer brake controller

I have a '04 150 Screw 4x4 3.73LS. don't use a trailer too often, but am considering getting the trailer brakes. I have the trailer tow package also. What controllers did everyone get, and are they easy to install yourself?

This is the one I used. Came with the 5th wheel hitch I had installed. works great and hooks up using the wiring harness you got with your tow package. The instuctions etc are on the web page.

Tekonsha Prodigy

All inertial, no funky buttons, and always the proper amount of braking assistance.

Agree! and you can buy it for under $100 at Rvwholesalers.com and install it in about 10 minutes.

Same here.....

I bought the Tekonsha thru RV Wholesalers about 3 weeks ago, used it pulling a 27' travel trailer thru the mountains. Couldn't have made the trip without it. It worked fine.

Installation is a breeze, use the factory supplied harness and it will take 10-15 minutes.

I have the prodigy and have been very happy. I also got the extra harness and one side clips into the back of the brake controller and the other side clips right into the truck. The extra harness cost an extra $9, but did not have connect/tie any wires together. Got the prodigy and extra harness at rjays.com. Super easy install. I have a 2005, Screw, 4x4, with tow package.
