I am in a fix... Wrung the gas filter off in the carb, and my antifreeze only protects to 20 degrees. I can probably borrow the cash to fix the carb, but need any help I can get hold of to 1) either remove and replace said carb or 2) drain what passes for 'coolant' out of the block. If anybody in the Knoxville area could PM me I would appreciate it.
hey DAve if you dont have a easy-out to pull the broke off filter
nipple use a allen wrench
just tap it the right size allen into the hole & you should be able
get it out
been there & did that cause with the easy-out i just
striped the hole bigger & was stumped till a buddy came over
& said hand me a allen wrench
i said wow neat trick i'll never forget that trick
Interesting thought. I will try that after I get in from drill Saturday afternoon. That still leaves me with the anti-freeze problem though. Lease term at my apt complex sez no working on vehicles on grounds. Further, even with the new gas filter, the thing still ran horrible warmed up and leaked gas like a sieve out the gas filter. Interestingly, it seemed to run better when it would not be constantly dripping. Further, it woule be VERY hard to start after it stalled. I am beginning to miss my Dodges; at least Chrysler Corporation never went with anything as STUPID as a threaded in gas filter. I have had several cars with these and swear every time I will never buy one with that again .
What do you have to do to get them to NOT leak? It won't tighten more, and I am already using teflon tape. I wouldn't think I needed more than one turn of tape? Last one with this design I had was I had was an old Oldsmobile and I wound up putting a big gob of JB weld where the filter threaded in.
