We have a 1999 SD F250 Crew with the V8 in it and the Hazard lights will not work when hazard button is pushed down, but the turn signal lights will work when the switch is in either the left or right turn position. We have swapped the whole lever out with another truck of same model and it is not the lever that is the problem. Do they have seperate relays for turn signal and flasher? If they do where are they at? All fuses are good and bulbs are good.
Found the problem to be the flasher relay that is located behind the radio/cup holder. Purchased one from Napa and it didn't fix the problem. Read on another forum and they said that aftermarket relay's do not work for that relay. Purchased one from Ford Dealership and everything worked fine.
My flashers didn't work on my '99 Crew/V10, and it looks like the PO sprayed Coca Cola all over the interior at some point - and some of it got down into this switch.
Try pulling UP on the flasher **** after you depress it - that is the only way my hazards work. If I just press the switch, my hazards won't come on, but if I put up (hard) on the switch, they work every time. As you pull up, wiggle the switch, too.
My turn signal switch is now dying, but the hazards still work, so I think they're on different circuits (to some extent).
