Egr valve

My former mechanic blocked off my egr valve.I have had several people tell me I don't need it.I have a crate engine from jasper.(400) I really don't want anything bad to happen to it.Would appreciate some good advice.Do I need it or not?

I don't have one on my 429.

What do you have for emissions on your truck ?

Are you worried about law vs emissions in your state ?

Edelbrock, for example, makes manifolds with and without egr provisions. You can safely run the engine either way. I prefer no egr to simplify tuning and increase power. It seems that only electronically controlled engines handle pollution control well. Mechanical engines can't test and correct like electronic. However if it's a law in your area you may not have the chioce.
