i have a 95 f-150 4.9L inline 6, its 2x4. Now, has anybody even tried to snow plow with a 2 wheel drive? if so did it work? does anybody know if it would work? i would like to make some money of the winter. I live in Lancaster county, pa. we don't get that much snow here. I would just be doing parking lots. no roads or anything, is it worth the money to put one on this truck?
not a good idea i have own a ford 4x2 and it wouldnt get out of it ways when the roads where bad you would get stuck and would not be a happy camper look around for a use 4x4 with plow dime a dozen here cheap to
I would have to agree with fordbabe; as it is I have to put 400lb in the bed of my 4x2 to get up hills in the snow, and even then there are some where I have to go 15mph in 1st just so the back end doesn't slide out.
hahaha, thats what i thought. that is the only thing i hate about my truck...i love it to death, just with it was a 4x4...i'm a 16 year old kid. A lifeguard being my job in the summer. i don't have the money to get another 4x4. and i dont want to sell my truck to get a 4x4. i love it to much. i dont think i would get that much for it anyway. do you think i could get 7500? its got 105,586 on it. its and eddie baur. great shape. engine runs like brand new.
i would try to sell it at that price you never know what ppl are lookin for ... i had a ford 4x2 150 nice truck bought it brand new drove it 3 years and im in vermont our roads are bad in the winter so i needed a 4x4 i got what i paid for the truck 3 years later you jus never know .... i did love my 4x2 to but when you get a 4x4 you'll never go back....
I looked into this same question not long ago for a '92 f150, 300, 2wd, 5-speed.
Nice folks here told me I really didn't want to try that... even if I was only going to plow my own long driveway... downhill yet!
Having bolted a plow onto my recently purchased 4wd f250, I can see why.
The weight of the plow is staggering... it puts a huge load on the front end... you'd likely need bigger springs, and without ballast would really unload the rear axle on your truck.
I'd look for a used $50 toro snowblower. Do two jobs with it and you'll be in the green from there on out. You might not make as much, but you'll have a much better chance of making something and a much smaller chance of losing $ on expensive repairs to a new and unknown vehicle.
