Question Modifying

How can this be done? Take a automatic 1991 4x4 Ranger and put in an manual transmission. Also how safe and reliable are body lift kits, are they worth the money? Thanks

To swap out the transmission, you will need a new fly wheel and pilot bearing to replace the auto flex plate on the engine. Also you might need a different starter because of the number of teeth on the flywheel. You will need a new clutch and brake pedal support bracket to hang the clutch pedal with the clutch master cylinder. You will need the clutch line going to the M/T, slave cylinder and throw out bearing.
You will need a engine control module for a manual transmission engine calibration. I think you also need to change the dust shield that goes between the engine and transmission from auto to manual. Of course the M/T will have to be from the same size engine and a 4x4 to accept a transfer case. I think the drive shafts don't need to be changed because they are transfer case dependent, rather than transmission dependent.

I think Pat covered everything, lol. I've never been a fan of body lifts, imo they make the truck look funny bc on the one's ive seen, the bumper stays still and the body goes up. I would go suspension lift. Also, I'm a big M/T fan. If there are many miles on your Ranger, I would go in the market for a new truck, or make sure that the A/T was getting ready to go so the expense could be justified.
