transfer case shifter-which hole???

transfer case shifter-which hole???

i have a 77 f250 4x4 (hi-boy) with a divorced np 205 transfer case. was out playing in the snow and lost the bolt that connects the transfer case shifter to the long rod that goes back to the t-case. the problem is that the shift lever has 3 holes in it. they are all the same size, and it looks like the rod could attach to any of these. i'm sure that everything is stock. does anyone else have this setup?? would be nice to know if there is a correct location for the rod to attach so i'm not laying in a snowbank doing the trial and error thing. i'm pretty sure if i guess, i'll guess wrong the first 2 times (just cuz it's snowing). any help would be appreciated.

Sparky, look carefully at the lever and you should be able to see where the bolt was previously by where it's worn (less dirt or mud there). Which hole you use just effects how far the shifter has to move to engage or disengage the t-case. The hole closest to the **** will be a fairly long throw while the one at the bottom of the lever will be a very short throw shift. Bolt it up and just see how it feels. If you don't like it you can switch to a different hole.
