pistons
for a 351w only bored .030 over, with none of the surfaces milled what would be a good hypereutectic piston to get the motor to about 10:1 compression ratio? it has a stock crankshaft and eagle forged I beam rods with a length of 5.956". i am using D0OE heads with a chamber volume of 60.4 cc. also would porting and a 3 angle valve job and increase to 2.020/1.60 valves make any difference in the compression ratio? i have a comp cams xtreme energy cam with duration @.050 = 250/256 and .554/.558 lift. is this a bad set up for a truck looking to go fast? its for an 87 ranger, so it wont be used for any real work.
thanks.
je's, srp's and others are cut with enough relief, but they are forged, but @ 10:1 you might think about buying forged for the clearance and peace of mind. i paid $125 to have mine flycut after installing 1.94 intake valves using stock replacement pistons in a 5.0 HO. luckily i didn't bend any valves. cheers, garsten
