'95 Explorer "4 High/Low" lights flashing

I have a '95 Explorer that still runs great with a 155K on it, but for the longest time when you put it in four high, both hi and low lights begin flashing and then just go out. It seems to still engage the 4wd. I've taken it to a couple of Ford dealerships, but they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Any ideas?

I am having the exact same problem, and snow is starting to dump here this week. My '95 blows the fuse sometimes aftewr flashing for a while.

My 97 had this problem, it was related to the 4wd shifter motor. It was "stuck" and apparently the computer can't tell what position it is in. I took it out and cleaned it and it works fine now.
