460 what tranny

hey everyne i have an E4OD tranny and i was wondering if i cna go wiht any other auto tranny please help soon, its a 1990 F250 1 ton EFI please any questions o answers very welcome!

A C6 would work fine but you'll lose your overdrive.

And a locking coverter and between the too a good bit of MPG.

heyeveryone thanks a lot for the info, the reason i wanna get rid of the e4od is it jsut donst feel reliable if that makes sense and i want a nice firm shift its also a 4x4 if anyone can guide me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!

If a manual trans will do then a ZF 5-speed would work but the computer will have to be swapped out and the same goes for the C6 swap, new computer.
