Frame work?

I have a crack in my frame on my 1977 f-250 4x4 on the drivers side just about a foot and a half behind the bed. I was wondering if anyone has had a cracked frame and how they went about fixing it,if anyone has done it with out a welder that would be Great cause i don't have one of those toys yet. Its Not a large crack aboiut 3 inches in long from the bottom of the frame up. P.S. never let your friends haul a horse trailer with a truck they can't handle

[font color=red size=2]In my opinion it should be welded. If you don't have the tools, then take it to a welding shop and have them fix it.

Frame work?

As part of the "fixing" process you should consider adding a gusset--steel plate on the Outside of the frame maybe---3/8" thick by 3" or 4 " wide by maybe 6" long , weld the crack on the Inside and put a couple of grade 8 by 1\2" bolts on both sides of the break , welding(heat) can weaken a piece of steel under certain circumstances and is not always the best fast fix that everybody would like for it to be!!!-something to think about , fd :-X11
