Hi Everyone, I'm new here and had a couple of questions.
I'm looking at buying a used ambulance as a tow vehicle for my racing team. I've found a 1993 E-450 w/ the NA 7.3L that has only 30K miles. What kind of problems could I expect for an older vehicle that has not been driven that much?
Also, would a non-turbo ambulance (already heavy) have any problems towing around 5000 lbs? I know it will be slow to get going, but if it can maintain ~75mph I'd be happy.
What kind of mileage should be expected?
Thank you very much! I hope to be posting more here in the near future!
Welcome to FTE. I have a 90 E350 with a 3.54 rear. I tow about 6500 pounds with my truck loaded at 8500. I could tow a little more but not much. 75 is not possible with mine. I get about 14 not towing and 12 towing. You might check in the towing forum for more info on how much you can tow. Good luck with it.
I have a 1993 f350 7.3 ambulance you will not get 75 mph without a turbo, i get 12mph, check the alternator out they usally have a 200 amp with seperate regulator yuo will want to change it out to a stock unit, they are very expensive.
there is a air conditioner unit in the back with a heater you will want to disconect them too as there is a mile of heater and ac lines to theme.
stock the truck will not go 75 w/ that load but if u don't want to spend the money on a turbo u can adjust the timng and add some fuel to make it powerful enough to do that
