a few more simple questions.
what brand for coolant additive should I use? How do I test if I need to add it?
what is the ford part number for the tach sesnor?
can someone send me the link to the thread in whcih PLC7.3 discusses the transmsision control relay found in the passeger side kick panel area, I seem to have misplaced my shortcut to it.
what is the desired coolant operating temperatue for the 7.3?
how long can the glowplugs be cycled, if done so manually, without risking the "burnout" of a plug.
does the block heater heat only the coolant, or is there anything on the 7.3 that heats the incoming fuel?
thanks in avance.
Go to IH ask for the Fleetguard 3-WAY Coolant Test Strips CC2602B contains 1 Test strip.
They show A/F freeze point (EG and PG coolants), Nitrite level and Molybdate levels.
Use DCA4 from Fleetguard (IH) or Ford VC8 (same as DCA4 but in Ford Bottle)
DCA 4 info

Engine RPM sensor E5TZ-17B384-A about $50.
Diesel engine coolant temperature at the top of the radiator where hose attaches after high rpm or under load condition for 20 minutes should be (195-237*F) 91-114*C
Standard cautions when handling hot engine/coolant apply, nice time to have a temperature reading point and shoot tool.
GPs should be cycled to engine temps: cold 5sec, darn cold: 8sec, freeze the ***** off a brass monkey cold 12 seconds.........you will find the sweet spot just do not use a flip switch only momentary push button. PS learn to count seconds.. one thousand ..one, one thousand ..2 etc.
Block heater only heats coolant cololant heats the engine block etcee here.........
