changeing gears
ok i have a 79 ford f-150 with a 400 under the hood, and a c-6 auto...i was just wandering if anyone knew the horsepower and torque gain i would have if i would swap these gears....i have 2.90's which suck!!!!! im gonna put in 4.10's or 4.11's......thanks kevin

The Horsepower to the *back of the engine* on a 400 is
160HP.
T is about 275 @ 2800
You will gain in the launch from the hole as the gears will be more efficient from the torque that is already developed.
You will LOSE fuel efficiency.

Hey Definently don't change to a 4:11 that's what i run in my 74 f-100 with a 390 and it sucks for any on road driving It's great for off road but I'm running about 2100 rpm going 50mph down the road It sucks big time.
