Mirror Swap.

I have Moose ears on my 05 Excursion. Heated/Power and Turn signal muth. Eddie Bauer.

Want to go to Tow Mirrors like on my 00 Excursion but not sure if its a direct swap if I buy 05 Tow mirrors. Also do I need the signal backs to make it work? I'd like it all but if I could buy on Ebay power heated tow ones I'd do it. Anybody know part numbers that are a direct replacement for me? Anybody?

Be hyper careful with E-Bay mirrors, even if they say they are "OEM". If they're too cheap to be true, they're cheap imports with wavy glass. I bought one of these for my Windstar because I thought I was going to trade it in on a Honda Odyssey. It was cheap ($69) but I got what I paid for.
I have seen heated Excursion mirrors on E-Bay for a decent price, but no signals though.
The best thing to do for your Ex is to pull the trim pad off the driver's door and see how many wires are in the connector. It's a 5 minute job and you'll know what you have to work with. You should have the rectangular connector with all the wires for heat, signal, running lights, plus of course the mirror functions. To pull the trim pad pull the switch panel off and remove the screw; pull the red relector off the bottom and remove the screw; lift up on the pad and it's off. The mirror connector is in front of the inside handle fastened to the inside of the door with wires coming out the front and looping inside the door running up to the mirror.

had the same thing on my 01 X. moose ear with the power, heated, and signals. i could have bought the ones for the 05 but the price was alot higher, and the wire for the running lights is not in the harness. if you want the running light, you only have to run a new wire from the headlight switch to the mirrors. i bought the power and heated only. bad thing is i lost my signals. big deal, i know when i am turning. i also put the chrome covers on them. and it was a direct plug in. the mirrors(got them at ford)came with another pigtail harness that was a rectangle connector on one side and split into two round plugs on the other side. i did not use the pigtail harness. this way, just remove and replace, no wiring. you can buy the signal mirrors and dont wire the running lights. power, heat, and signals will work. just no running lights.
