remoting the TFI module?

remoting the TFI module?
well, my TFI module on the distributor was cooked by the heat again. 
Has anyone tried remoting this thing to the grille area or some other cooler location under the hood by using longer wiring and connectors? Or is there another way to keep it cool?
I'm tired of paying $50 for more modules like this.....
