Problem with brake lights

Hey guys, the other day I took my steering wheel off to clean the blinker lights with some electric parts cleaner and I un-hooked the blinker control to clean under it and when I went to screw it back on and when I pushed the brake pedal, it blew the fuse over and over. So I loosened the blinker control in the column and my brake lights don't blow the fuse but the blinker thing is all loose but it works. Does anybody have any ideas of what is wrong.

You've got a wire pinched somewhere. Sometimes good intentions lead to more trouble.

76,
Reassmble the blinker assembly but do not install the steering wheel. Try your blinkers and see what you get. If your blowing fuses, dissamble and reassemble. You'll get it right sooner or later, unless, you have crushed the assembly. Inspect blinker assembly for the symptoms of scraping/grinding and crushing. If you can repair it, your lucky. If you can't replace it.
Did you remove the C-clip?
If so you've probably torn it up good; replace it and get the C-clip on right!
Good Luck, Have Fun,
