roll bars
Hey Im wondering what kind of roll bars that you have bought. I would like a double single, black or chrome well i havent decided yet. Could someone please give me some prices or brands of them. thanks

well, im guessing your talking about a bed mounted one. those wont do you any good but to look good. the one on my 88 is bolted straight to the 4 inch cross tubes of my flatbed. what are you wanting it for? looks, lights, rolling, what?

those chrome ones wont do any good in a rollover but i am guessing its just for looks. smitty built, steel horses, Grizzly, and MAAP. if you do go this route i strongly suggest finding a way to tie it into your frame. that way if you ever do rollover your truck is well protected!
jegs and summit sell weld in cages but if you dont have much welding experience then you need to look for some help. if you have access to a bender, notcher, grinder, welder, and a few extra hands i'd try to just buy some .120 DOM and build it like you want!

I am pretty sure Jegs has a weld in kit for that truck that you can order, and I have read on other forums that they are a pretty nice setup, so if it was me I would give them a call. Also if they don't have a kit they will send you and order from that will tell you where to measure and how, you then send it back in,and they build you one.
Then all you have to do is weld it in.

If you want looks.....stay away from Smitty Built. I have seen their chrome products rust in less than a year.....and that is in Texas (no salted roads).

Grizzly makes them....if u wanna spend over/near $1000! It BS that they jack up the price on these things.
I just bought lastnight a Double-Single Fully Welded heavyduty rollbar for my 74 F250 for $200, he custom makes them and said i bought the last one but if you want his number just ask. Hes out of Northern IL, Its not painted but hell...ill slap some cheap paint on it and keep the can in the glove box.

Im just want one for looks and to hold some offroad lights. It deffinatly doesnt have to be functional. The reason i asked because they are very expensive, and the only company that i found that makes them it Grizzly.

i was thinkin about buying one. never got around to it cause of the price. the store has since moved. then i found an old chebby sitting behind an abandoned house with a black roll bar with lights attached and was gonna steal it. never had the ***** to steal it cause they started building next to the house and are probably gonna knock the house down and there was always construction guys around and a dop would have easliy seen me. im a wimp. and now the truck is gone. so yeah, i still dont have a roll bar, and i would like one aswell.

sounds like some people here have some growing up to do!!! no wonder offroading has such a bad name!
