i recently submerged my 78 ranger. the water was about 1/2 way up the motor and it quit when i pulled it out it started and run but a few days later it won't start. is it possible that it just needs to dry out or something more serious
i got it running again and it was just the plugs. but any way how would you waterproof and seal all the vital electrical parts
I'm betting you got water in your distributor and when it wouldn't start the water had condensed on the inside of your distributor cap, shorting out the spark. (In that case the cap would have been cold.) When it started the distributor cap was warm and the water had evaporated off.
So, if this is right, you may have another no start condition. Remove the distributor cap and blow out the cap and the distributor with compressed air.
I'm betting you will see a little water come out. If you don't have air, spray the inside of the cap with WD40 and leave it off (in a warm dry area,) to give the distributor time to dry out.
