Hey everyone,
Hope you all had a nice thanksgiving. I went to visit some friends over my thanksgiving break in upstate ny. I drove up from blacksburg, virginia where im going to school. I had a great time up until i had to drive back. Things were going fine till around 11:30 that night when a deer ran out infront of my truck. I was going about 65 mph and slammed the brakes but it wasnt enough and i hit a doe with the front right side of my truck. Damage is pretty bad i guess you could say. Its not totaled but a lot of things will need to be replaced. Im just glad i was driving a truck and not a little car. Im gonna try and post some pics. Hopefully it can be fixed. Anyways i hope the rest of you fair'd better than me.
actually the bumper and radiator are also damaged and not sure about the hood. But yea it doesnt look too bad im just hoping insurance isnt going to go up. Im just a little disappointed because i've been saving my money since i was 15 to buy that truck and i finally bought it this summer at the age of 19 all to have it hit a deer and no longer have an accident free car history. I am guessing the vehicle's value is going to decrease because of this won't it?

If your rates go up, you got the wrong insurance company. Over the years, I've totalled to cars hitting deer driving to work........uhh,that's while I was driving to work, the deer weren't driving to work!! Neither affected my insurance. Not a chargeable at fault accident. Considered an "act of God", at least by my insurance company.
Yeah realistically my rates should not go up. However when i talked to the insurance company they were very vague and said I did have the situation in my favor because it was not a fault accident but i dont trust insurance companies. If it does go up I will not hesitate to change my insurance company.
That doesn't look too bad, at least it's still mobile. My sister and her husband hit 2 deer at once with a tractor trailer. It looked like someone had thrown balloons full of ketchup at the front of the truck. I guess they had to remove some hair and various organs from the truck. The smell got into the heater vents as well. The only damage was the grill got pushed in a bit. My sister felt so bad because she was driving when it happened and it was a doe with a young fawn.
