It's Alive !!!

It's a wonderful day! Just got the 55' up and running. Finally got the 292 running really good and really smoothe! Took for a test drive and "she" runs just like a remebered (like an old truck) HA HA HA!! But never the less it's up and running again. I'm going to be keeping the Yblock and I'm going to leave the straight axle front end to with some slight modifications. I'm going to get the aluminum intake from Mummerts.....and I'm going to be getting some drop spindles and disc brake set up's for the front end. Also Mummerts sells an adapter for a C-4 tranny that I will be aquiring too. Any feedback on any of Mummerts products please let me know.

Thanks
Mason

I have been reading over here a lot since I ended up with one that seems to be in good shape.

I like masons ideas.

I would at least think about getting an overdrive transmission.

Do they make a C4 w/over drive ??? I had such big ideas about IFS front ends, a brand new 351C crate motor from Jegs and so on and so on ...... But the realization of how much money that would have cost didnt compute to well with my bank account! I already have another set of front fenders, and I can pick up a whole new bed (front and 2 side panels w/tail gate and wood flooring) for $999.00 I figure another $300.00 for new rear fenders and off to body and paint she goes! The rest I'm leaving stock except for what I mentioned in the begining. An AOD trans would be nice but I'm really not up to speed on what I can adapt to a Y block and this adapter that mummerts has for the C4 looks really easy to install with just minor mod's. (drive shaft I'm assuming) But I'm thinking with the body parts and drive train/brake system I'll be in it about $5 grand before paint. (that will be next year Root Beer Brown w/a Candy inlay) But it will be on the road and safe to drive w/o the extra 10 or 20 grand I had planned.

I looked on the mummerts site and it says it not for OD transmissions. I am new to the Y-blocks myself, so I don't really know what (if anything) else thats automatic and will bolt up.

They do have a kit to bolt up a later model t-5 to some Y-blocks (with bell housing mods).
