I am looking at used Ford excusions and tryign to decide between the 6.0 and the 7.3. I read some other posts here which gave me a good starting point. Which one would you guys go with? What is the fuel mileage difference between the two? Thanks
I have owned both. A modifid 7.3 & a new 04 6.0L. Towed accross county with both. Liked the 7.3 Love! the 6.0. Some warentee problems but still love it! The 6.0 will out run and outpull the modified 7.3 with 31 ft.trailer. Same mileage. Towing 11 to14. Solo 17 to 19.5. Love the truck! 2004 F250 4X4 SC Lariat. 6.0 Tqsh. Sach394
not even close the 7.3 for dependablity, and fuel mpgs. after owning both in trucks the 7.3 is a workhorse with a long life and with 3 mods will perform as good as 6.0 without all the problems, tuner, exhaust, cold air box. those 3 things on my 7.3 got me 300k at av. of 15 mpg combined and 23 on the hwy.Never in the shop once for anything except service. still running strong when I traded it.best truck I ever owned.
you will hear all kinds of stories about fuel mileage about the 6.0's. some are true some are reading the over head lie-o-meter, some don't know really how to calculate. I get 18 to 19 empty 10-11 towing a 38' enclosed goosneck 20,500 gvw. this is a f350 srw, 4x4, lb, cc, 305/70/16 tires. I will tell you I am getting rid of my 6.0 for either a 7.3 or a duramax. I just haven't made up my mind.
