What paint for a new A-pillar pod?

When I ordered gauges and Pod, I also ordered a can of spray paint with them. "VHT a PJ1 Product" the cap sticker: "Ford Light Gray Product No. SP-979" I think it matches perfect. I also did about 7 or 8 coats on the pillar as it is an 11 oz. can and that is probably the only thing I will ever paint with it.

If you have the Med. Graphite I'd sujjest you go with the VHT Plastic paint. It comes in a full size can and the Superduty Light Gray is a perfect match. Here's a link if you want to take a look:

We also stock the smaller Ford brand. If you have any questions about either give us a call.

I just went to my local Ford Store (Parts) and had them order a spray can of "touchup" paint. I gave them the paint code (located on the inside of the driver door) and the can arrived the next day. Total cost was around $14.00. It matched perfectly. I do recommend giving the panel MANY coats of paint. I used almost a whole can! Those extra layers really help, especially when you relaize that you have to really wrestle the panels into place.

I was impatient when I did mine as ni Ford store in town had the grey in stock. I went to Pep Boys, and bought Duplicolor vinyl paint and the adhesion promoter (plastic primer). Not a bit of trouble. One thing I also did was a trick I learned from an old auto painter, I wiped it down with Laquer Thinner lightly and immediately shot it with a light coat of primer. The laquer thinner opens the pores on the plastic, so the primer sticks way better. The best paint job is only as good as the first coat of primer. Be careful though if you do use the thinner as too much will melt your texture right off. And always... lots of thin light coats beats a couple of thick coats any day.
