Hey guys, another problem from my box...I am trying to figureout what and where my lockout hubs came from. They look like a standard ford lockout hub, except,
- There are NO I repeat NO allen screws anywhere on the hub.
- The hub itself is one body the top doesn't come off, it is one body.
- It's more like the auto hub on a 93 exploder but with a manual lockout ****.
- It does not say ford on it and when you take off the wheel, the hub comes with it.
I don't know if I can get pics as the truck is undrivable at a friends house. The reason I ask is the left one just gave up the ghost. BTW the beast is an 87' F150 4x4 351 4bbl C6
You have the dreaded flanged hub used only on 87-88 F150's. Not one of Ford's better ideas probably! I didn't find out until after I bought the truck. I have the same problem with the left hub. No one here has any ideas on how to fix other than change out the whole axle. I see Rock Auto has them for $240 each but probably better to change everything from the knucles out.
Sorry, we're all in it together!
Mike
I've yet to find a single person who likes the fact that these things are installed on their trucks. I know people who have swapped out the entire front axle to get rid of them. Brake shops HATE dealing with these, too.
The reason people hate these is that there are no aftermarket replacements, and parts are a PITA to find. I had these on my '87, and since I did the D44 SAS, I've got two good ones (if anyone's interested). Mine never gave me any problems, though.
