Ceramic-Coat Headers -- HELP!!!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the group and thought I would post a question that I've been mulling over for a while now. I'm rebuilding a 400M to be a couple of steps above stock and am wondering what all the hype is about ceramic coat headers. Are they really worth the extra cash? I know that they reduce engine heat but I'm worried about it chipping. I was discussing the pro's and con's with a buddy and the point was brought up that if a rock should chip the coating then, the extra money spent is a waste. I've seen manufacturer's stating that their product it rust proof and chip resistant but, come on, how realistic is that statement? Does anyone have 1st hand experience in this department? Thanks:+

Thanks Dennis,

I'm still trying to navigate my way around this site with all of the forums! Kinda exciting to see this many people talking about the big blue oval.

if you can afford it then go for it. painted headers turn white within 5 minutes of running. even if just for that ceramic headers will look far better than painted.

Ceramic-Coat Headers -- HELP!!!

they are better in every sense. My headers are ceramic coated (Stans) and I have had no problems with chips for the last 9 months.
