I ran into a problem with my 04 and my girlfriend's 03. When they first switched to the "Winter" gas out here, I noticed that after filling up it would take 4-6 hours for the gas gauge to read full. I calrd my local dealer and they told me there is a TSB on it and that the possible fix was to pour a thing of Chevron Techron in the tank, if that didn't work they told me to do it again, and if that didn't work they said that I would need a new fuel sender.
Ford says that the sulfer content in the "Winter" gas has been giving wrong readings and possibly cause the sender its self to go bad. I ended up using a bottle of the Chevron Techron ( @ 13.00 a bottle) and the problem went away.
My question is, if Ford's fuel sender's are affected by the sulfer content isn't that breaking a regulation of some sort? I thought there were certain standerds that car makers had to adhere to? I could be wrong.
