I cant seem to find a radiator hose which will fit my 75 hiboy. The truck had a 390 and now has a 460. The hose off of my 390 would work if it wasnt for my 3 inch body lift which makes the hose hit on the power steering belt. So im looking for any suggestions before about finding the rite hose, otherwise i am thinking of just moving the radiator down 3 inches but this is kind of a last resort thing. ANY IDEAS?????
Measure what you need and go to Napa. They'll sell you a flexible hose at any length up to 30" I believe, with the wire inside to keep it from collapsing.
lol funny you say that i was at napa for over an hour today. I know the flexable hose your talkin about but im not sure if it will bent as sharp as i need it to. Plus it would suck to replace my ps belt because is running rite thru the belt form the pump to the radiator
Yikes! One more reason I hate body lifts. Your best option may be to drop the radiator but that's gonna take a little work too. I think you should try getting that flex hose though and see if it'll work and clear everything. It'll run about $28-$35 if I remember right. If it doesn't work and it's not "used" you can take it back for a refund. They bend fairly well. It's too dark to take a picture now but I have a fair bend in the hose I'm using.
I don't like flex hoses, they are too hard and beat on the radiator fitting causing failure. If it's just a length problem, buy a piece of copper pipe the sizoe of the hose and cut the hose and clamp the pipe in as an extension. I usually solder a ridge on the ends of the copper pipe so the hose clamp has something to grip.
