i have a 99 f-250SD i just replaced all the spark plugs and COP's because i took my truck to auto zone had them pull the codes that said missing #1 and #8 so i replaced thoose coils still had a bad miss so now i just replaced all of them at the tune of $320 but now ive found that there is no #8 injector wire coming off the harness ive looked every where now does that mean that my coils were never bad in the first place and how can i fix this? Im going to cut open the split loom and look for cut wires, and solder on a new one from the junk yard, unless some one else can give me some advise on what to do. I hope its not just the fumes getting to me. i really need to get this truck running ASAP any help is appraciated
Its problaby there just got tucked under something.
Step away from the truck, put the tools down and have a beer .
5min break then rip in to it with both hands if that doesn't work put it out of its misery
Shoot the dang Thing!
yeah i think im going to sell it now this truck has been nothing but problems im only 18 i cant afford to fix and repair daily allthough thats what she needs i guess its time to shoot her well maybe ill just trade it in. after a good night sleep im ready to go at it again with both hands ant feet hopefully a brain to, lets hope i dont break anything else. i just got done looking at the wiring diagram and it kinda looks like the #8 wire comes off of the other side of the engine around the back so i guess ill grab the kreeper and a flash light and keep looking thanks for the help any more would be helpful
Well patience isnt the answer I just spent the past 2 hours trying to put my head between the firewall and engine block (by the way it dosent fit even if you go from the top!). I still didnt find the wire, can some one tell me if it comes off the same loom as the rest of the injectors on the R. side of engine? and how far down the loom is it? I just cut off some electrical tape to see if the prev. owner had cut the wires off and I do not see any thing that comes off that loom bewteen the last coil wire and the wire that goes down to the auto trans. HELP!! PLEASE!! I REALLY NEED TO SELL THIS TRUCK I JUST LOST MY JOB.
allright, now that i found out that my miss is from the injector wire being MIA. I have no idea where it could be ive looked every where even under the tape, but screw it right. Im to lazy to try to put another one back in,and its defently not there unless it comes off another loom somewhere else. So i decided i would take out the front 6 coils and return them to the store($220), put the 6 old coils but still good coils back in the F250, bolt every thing up, start it, runs fine except i still suspect its missing because theres still a vibration, but it doesnt seem to be as bad the check engine light turned off even after running it out in the mesa(desert) for 30 min. The light didnt turn back on so im really confused can some one tell me what going on. m a decent mechanic no schooling. but i used to work on big rigs mostly tire, oil changes, and the clutch we replaced twice, along with any other crap that goes wrong at work, well my old job at least.

I'm assuming this is a v8.Where did you get this truck ? Sounds like this thing is a real piece of work if you can't find an injector plug to go to a injector .
Maybe this thing ahd a dead cylinder all a long.An someone pulled a fast one on you.
Give us some more history.
Which cylinder is missing the wiring. They all get 12v on red/light green and go through the pcm for pulse on the following:
#1 lg/wh
#2 pk/wh
#3wh/pk
#4dg/vt
#5lg/ye
#6og/ye
#7pk/lb
#8wh/rd
Chk out those colors on a few to verify they haven't changed something
10-4 will do i know its the #8 cylinder that is dead, far cylinder on R. side(drivers side) all check all of the wiring on that side. Yeah today the Engine Service Soon light turned back on.

hmm looks like the wires dont really match up with what you gave me its hard to tell buy cyl #5 has a or/ye and #6 was lg/ye. is there an easy fix for this can i just buy the R. side wiring harness. thx in advance

the #8 injector wire is hard to get to.the injector is usually turned to the firewall and to the passenger side.it cant go to far.it only has about 3 in. of slack.the wire harness loops around the back of the engine, and the connector should be in that area.
Also the wires on mine are two wires until they get into the harness right in the center rear of the engine right next to the fuel rail, right behind it. At that point they dissapear into the harness to go who knows where.
