My 05 F350 6.0l is in the shop today for some minor repairs. I put the tuning back to stock a few days ago just in case. Just got a call from the Service Advisor asking me if I had a performance chip. I said that I do but don't run it often. He said that they wanted to re-program the truck to an updated program but if I run a tuner, the new ford program blocks any aftermarket tuning. It was re-programmed about six monthes ago, and I immedietly put my economy tune back in. I told Ford to just leave the truck the way it is so I can still run my superchip, then I emailed superchip to get there advice. Anyone know anything about Fords new program. Is this true or what???
I think Superchips has a re-flash thingy fro Fords updated tune. You got to send your Superchips to them and they will re-load it with the file and then you can use it on your truck with Fords new tune.
Im not 100% Sure on this but try asking Vic_ferrari.
I don't think even the new computers have the capability to block flash tuning--I think he was filling you full of stuff. There are rumors (strongly substantiated) that the 07's will have that capability, but if man made it man can break it.
The truck goes back in next week for a rear window motor, ckc tube and rear end clunk so if I don't get a reply from Superchips by then, I'll just call them. Will update as soon as I get more info
It as simple as updating the software of the chip to deal with the updated software Ford is using in the newest flash.......i have a predator and i have to update it due the the fact that i have the newest tune......and i have to say the newest tune is a good one (factory tune that is).
I had the same thing happen RE: EBS recall thread, sorry should have read this first! My Bully Dog Triple Dog Downloader can be upgraded via the internet link for this flash. They told me it should be available in the upgrade section one day next week. I'm done with that send it back stuff last time it took (another brand) 17 days to get it back to me.
