I neeeded to fire up thetruc simcve it's been sitting aheil for the slow-poke NOS install, and I wanted to try out my new camcorder. So, here is s a video of the FE446 in decent running order wit hteh cut-outs open. The camera seems to work pretty good, but the audio is a little quiet. The camera is pretty cool. this is on the lowest quality video setting, and teh cam will hold 25+ hours at this level on its' intrenal Hard Drve. It's the last link on this page. My camera recods in a .mod file format. I had to force it to play in Windows Media player, but it works. Unfortunately, it is still 15 megs. Sorry, dial up guys. I'll work on converting the files to MPEGs, that could shrink the file.
Dangit Greg, convert the darn thing to MPG or WMV. I just tried it in Media Player 10, and no-go. Can't find the Codec. I even went out on the web looking for a converter/codec, with no luck.
Well Greg, I got it to work. That is one nice sounding & and looking rig. I struggle to keep my 390 just running right and you come up with that. I'm saving that clip along with Scouders just to listen to when I want to hear some rock & roll music. That was right on!
I wonder why some can get it to play, like me, and yet others cannot. I don;t try to get a codec, I just click "Play it anyway".
Anyway, I'm working on the software to make it am MPEG. Darn softare won't download correctly on my Monster PC, but it downloaded on the wife's laptop. Dang computers! Or Confuseres as Russ calls it :-)
I simply renamed it a .mpg file and it seems to work in a variety of players now. I'm sure it is still 15megs. But, it's the lowest quality video the new camera takes, and it still looks decent full-screen.
I also renamed the poor quality phone video of the 13.9 second pass. You should be able to play it now in most MPEG compatible players. It's on the audio page now as well!
Sounds real good Greg. In fact, just by the sound of the engine, I would say you have some better track times still in it without making any engine changes.
Make sure you have your GOOD camera on/in/pointed at the truck when you do your juice pass. Maybe we can catch your first 12 on disc.
sorry to the guys that can't view the videos. I wish these manufactureres would just make cameras that record in popular formats like MPEGs.
fact is, these files are mpeg-2 files, but for some stupid reason they had them named ".mod" files.
Anyway, you can bet the new video camera will be there to get a high quality recording of the next few track trips. Even if I have to burn a CD or DVD and mail it to you guys, you'll get it :-)
