I have a freind that has 2 vehicles in Idaho, and needs to get them to Kansas, (because he is losing his storage space)... It's 1,000 mile one way, mostly traveling I-80... Can you tow 2 vehicles legally behind a single vehicle? OR If he took 2 vehicles to Idaho and towed them seperately, is there any permits needed in Nebraska, Wyoming, or Idaho., if he is towing a trailer. Is there permits needed if they are on a towbar or tow dolly? I know it's allot of questions, but we have to get it sorted out before he goes.
U-Haul has car carriers that hold two cars, at .50 a mile that would be $500.00 plus the daily rental fees.
imo, 1000 miles is way too far for a tow dolly, probably a bit far for a tow bar too.
Around here, you can buy a brand new tandem axle trailer with a wood deck for $1050 (no brakes). If I had the money, I would be tempted to buy the 6x12 trailer, use it, then sell it when done with it.
No you can NOT tow two vehicles behind a third unless the two are on one trailer.
No special permitsare needed in any of the states.
Towing on a dolly would work fine as long as you protect the transmition in the towed vehicle.
Towing with a towbar is something I wouldn't recomend if you haven't done it in the past. Towing 4 flat (all 4 wheels on the ground) requires special provisions for most modern cars. Check with the manufactuers to see what you need to do.
