cleaning 6 liter engine

I was wondering if you could clean the 6 liter engine at a car wash without messing something up or should you be careful not to get water in some areas.Any help would be appreciated.I have a 2005 cc 4x4 king ranch with 7000 miles no problems so far.I had a early 2003 bought bavk by ford for the many problems that I had.

I have washed mine several times at the car wash. I leave it running while I do it. I always let it sit and idle while I wash the rest of the truck first then the engine.
