i took the cab off yesterday and got a good look at the engine. it is dark red. i have read in a few site's that this color was used in comercial truck's.the site that show's correct color's for the truck's also said blue for regular truck, dark red for comercial. any truth in this. anyway now to get cab out of garage myself will be fun , but it's off and door screw's had to be trilled .but plate's were they go can be drilled and easy out.( but not by me) i may just fix door's on part's truck and use them.
Door screws require a #4 Phillips head bit. I would purchase the Craftsman Manual imapct driver to do this. Use the imapct driver to break them loose. Once loose, the head on the impact driver is removable and can be used with a 1/2" drive ratchet to get these screws out the remainderof the way. Worked very well on mine. Also use tons of penetracting oil if they are badly rusted like mine were.
Thre has been a bit of discussion as to the color of these engines. I've seen them red, blue and gold. I've seen the chart that says what is supposed to go to what but I've neer been able to verify it. Use what you like is my suggestion, even if that would be purple.
