9" REAR LOCKING OR NOT
Gidday mate, Jim from down under here. In this country the I.D tag on the diff reads 3.50 or 3L50 The dot means open and the L means limited slip. 3.50 being the diff ratio. Its on the bottom line of the tag, closest to the bolt. Sometimes partly obscured by the bolthead. Obviously the numbers will vary depending on the ratio of your 9" Dont know about lockers. Hope this helps. Jim>LOCKING OR LIMITED SLIP REAR END?
Locking = Limited Slip
Same thing!
Open rear is a . as in 3.50:1
L.S. or Locking is 3L50:1 like the Aussie said.
Now, A simple way to figure out For Sure what diff you have.
Jack up the rear of the truck and put on jacks stands.
Make a chaulk mark on the tire near the ground/floor,also make a corresponding mark on the ground/floor.
Get under the Truck and watch How Many turns of the driveshaft for every ONE turn of the tire.This number is your ratio.
3 1/2 turns =3.50:1
Now,Turn One tire again to simulate forward travel.
If the other tire turns the Same direction, you have limited Slip.
If the tire turns the Opposite direction,You have an open diff.
Welcome to FTE !
