Roasted headlight switch wireing (long)
Is there and easy way to pull the fuse box out of the top of the dash. i had a short in the taillight wire that that started down at the floor (not at the fuse box but near the door Which btw took out my interier light) and went up into the dash to both the headlight switch and the wireing harness. i was able to repair most of the problems that i could get to but i still have some wire in the harness that i need to fix but i can't get to because it is inside the dash. i have the top off the front off and the guage pod out and i still i can't get to the wires that are roadted. i am about to rip all of the wireing out and just put in a bunch of toggle switches and be done with it. Also i have read that there is a way to put relays in to direct connect the headlights to the batteries what kind of relays should i use to do that with.

You can get the head lite wiring up grade from summit racing ($28 + shipping only a few $ more than buying the parts to do it yourself. This is not the problem with the switches, it is the running lites most of the time. You can do the same with them, put a relay in. With mine I got a fog lite switch kit from o'reillys, it comes with the relay, plug and switch (you dont need the switch) If I remember correctly cut the running lite wire (think it is brown) the side nearest to the switch goes to #86 on the relay, the other end to #87. Splice in to the power wire that to #30 on the relay. #85 on the relay goes to ground. All other wires on the plug should be insulated. This is from memory as I did it several years ago (due to switch burning out) if you need will pull the dash and check.
